Some people have suggested that I am wasting God-given talent by not working outside the home. They seem to feel that true worth is found in titles and labels. That accomplishments are measured in money, applause and professional prestige. Other moms have even commented on how difficult it is at times to admit what we do as if it something to be ashamed of. I say this: I am so blessed to be home. Yes, I have worked out of the house from time to time in order to release financial pressure, but for the most part, working outside the home costs more than it brings in. Leaving the home and family is stressful and provides a lot of extra busy. I lead a quiet, peaceful life on purpose! I like being with my husband and children. I never aspired to be famous in the world. My goal growing up was to be a housewife and homeschool my children. I am content in this. Sure, we all miss a little applause and financial remembrance for the work we do. Overall, though, when I take time to see the smiles on my children's faces, the pleasure in my husband's eyes, the marks of growth and learning in our children's character I am satisfied.
Our calling is high and worthy. It's transforming the next generation, it's laying foundations for future buildings. It's leaving a mark on history by shaping the people of tomorrow.
