We have been reading The Hiding Place as a family .You remember the story of Corrie ten Boom. I'm sure she and her family didn't desire torture and death. Yet their delight was in the Lord. His word promises that if we delight ourselves in him he will give us the desires of our heart. So, how did this promise come true for them? Their desires went beyond their own personal comforts. The desires of their heart were for more of God and for more people to know him. Through torture and death these things were accomplished. What are my desires? Certainly personal comforts and a blessed life rank pretty high in a way. But, what do I want more than anything? The presence of God. Is it worth offending the opinions of others? Is it worth sacrificing time on the internet? Is it worth getting up early for? Close relationships. Are they worth letting go of my need to be right? Are they worth my time in service? Are they worth the mess they make that I have to live with or help clean up? Can I trust that it's sometimes through pain and not understanding for a season that our desires are truly granted?
Corrie ten Boom, one of my all time heroins! What an amazing time she and her sister (family) lived in. What would it take for the American youth of today (or any of us) to react the way they did? Does it always have to be dire circumstances that surround us or can we really allow the power of our God to invade our souls to a place where we push them aside and live completely in the Spirit. Help me Lord to live as heroically as Corrie, as Betsie. Help me Lord to live for you.

Maria heard God calling at age three when she first heard the story of the boy Samuel in the temple. She has grown up in the Lord and continues to grow in relationship with Him to this day.
When you wake up in the morning, do you look at your bank account, your day planner and the gas tank, watch the news and make your decisions of what to do for the day? Or do you get up and look to the Maker of Heaven and Earth and ask Him what He has for you this day?
If God calls you to it- He will equip you for it and provide for the call! He won't ask you to do something you can't do. He will enable you! We can do all things through Christ!
