Some good friends of ours went through a medical emergency near the end of last school year. This upturned their schedules and resulted in the opportunity for us to have their boys for 2-3 days a week over the summer.
What a great opportunity to learn on the sly.
We had many outings and good times as well as opportunities to grow in relationships.
Here's to a recap of the summer.

Lego building competitions and nerf wars.
Mud skiing!
Even educational games are more fun when you can compete with your buddies.
We made marshmallow caterpaults. This little fellow got quite adept at rapid firing snacks to the big boys who attempted to catch them in their mouths.
Marble racks were fun.
We created and launched vinegar and baking soda powered rockets. These were a blast! They shot higher than the house!
We made veggy, pretzel skeletons and feasted on "bones". We also made really neat robitic hands that i forgot to take pictures of.
We visted the river after a busy week at Vacation Bible School
We spent many days at the pool. We took in several of the dollar movies. We enjoyed a couple of parks and the Arboretum. We had a field day with homeschool friends. We went miniture golfing, hosted youth events and even enjoyed a few outings to Tropical Smoothie, Dairy Queen, McDonalds and Costco.
We read and had quiet times. We drew and colored. We watched a couple movies and played the wii. We rode bikes and skated, played kick the can and capture the flag. We baked. We had pool noodle sword fights.
We went to the library, the Creamery, and the Children's museum.
We even put kids to work cleaning out gutters, mowing yard, snapping beans and weeding garden.
This was a summer for the books.
